Contract Partner - R&D expertise is contracted for periods ranging from several days to years depending on the magnitude of the project. The up-front costs are borne by the contract partner, who in turn retains all intellectual property, as well as revenues from commercial product sales.

Business Partner - R&D expertise is contracted for product development activities that are geared towards product commercialization within a 6 month to two-year time frame. In comparison to a contract partner arrangement, the up-front costs for a business partner arrangement are significantly reduced. Instead, the full R&D costs are recovered upon successful commercial sale of the resultant products, technology, and/or intellectual property - typically through profit sharing and/or technology licensing agreements.
